Fort Lauderdale-based hip hop group melds classical and urban influences into a unique, traveled sound

Miami, FL – July 30, 2013 – In a continuing effort to bring a diversified lineup of entertainment to Miami’s premiere live music venue, The Stage Miamipresents the acclaimed and innovative Black Violin featuring Kev Marcus on violin and Wil B on viola on Friday, August 9, 2013. In support will be New Orleans avant-rapper Ciel Rouge and Miami’s own DJ Heron.

“Black Violin have performed with some of the music world’s best in Alicia KeyesDiddyAkon and Fat Joe and at some high-profile shows like the lastPresidential Inauguration, Bonaroo and SXSW,” says The Stage’s owner Carlos F. Garcia. “We’re looking forward to their homecoming show here at The Stage.” “It’s always great to perform back home,” offers Wil B. “Seeing family and friends come out is always refreshing. Our fans in South Florida are amazing – that’s why it’s always a blessing to perform in the area.”

Originally a duo, the group now includes a drummer, cellist and a DJ. The founding members of BV are four-time winners of “Showtime at the Apollo” who met while students at Fort Lauderdale’s Dillard High School of Performing Arts. They’ve also worked with Kanye West50 CentAerosmithTomPettyAretha Franklin and The Eagles, among many others.
A touring force, Black Violin have performed 120+ shows in each of the last six years, including BSO tours of Iraq (2009)and Kuwait (2011), Dubai and South Africa with Fat Joe and Akon in 2009 and Shanghai for the 2010 World Expo. Other notable shows include appearing along with the Gym Class Heroes during the taping of a 2012 VH1 Unplugged episode, the2013 Come Out Summer Festival in Australia, opening for Lenny Kravitz in 2012 and official tailgate parties before Super Bowls XLIV, XLV and XLVI.
