Miami (August 1, 2013)- Brazilian flair and creativity have long made their mark on the international design scene. From the legendary buildings of architect Oscar Niemeyer to the Havaianas craze that has taken the world by storm, Brazilian innovation is undeniable.
It is that indelible style which will be on display at Orchestra Brasil, an exhibit featuring innovative contemporary furniture and home décor by 18 of Brazil’s top design studios. The exhibit will take place at Brazil Art Fair, a new design and art exhibit that premieres during Art Basel Miami Beach 2013.
The show comes to Miami after a run during the Salone Internazionale del Mobile in Milan and features a juried selection of 22 pieces including chairs, tables, and home accessories. Among the design studios on showcase are award-winning Zanini de Zanine, who has designed for Tolix and Poltrona Frau; Jader Almeida, recipient of the top award from Museu da Casa Brasileira, Brazil’s premier design museum; and Domingos Totora, who creates sustainable furniture
and decorative objects using cardboard.
Orchestra Brasil was created by the Furniture Industry Association of Bento Gonçalves (Sindmóveis), a consortium of leading suppliers to the furniture industry, in an effort to further collaboration and business opportunities for Brazilian designers.
Cátia Scarton, president of Sindmóveis, invites Design Miami and Art Basel attendees to preview the exceptional designs. “We are excited about the modern, innovative, and quality designs created by Brazilian talent,” said Scarton.
“Our designers offer an inspiring selection of products that reflect international trends, while remaining uniquely Brazilian.”
