American Icon, Astronaut Mark Kelly Welcomed the Team and Praised Their Precision Flying at the Breitling Boutique Miami
Wilton, Conn. (May 5, 2014) – Breitling, the Swiss watch manufacturer hosted an exclusive evening with the world’s largest professional civilian aerobatic jet team, the Breitling Jet Team and American Astronaut, retired Navy Captain, and #1 New York Times best-selling author Mark Kelly at the Breitling Boutique Miami in the luxurious Aventura Mall. Guests had the exclusive opportunity to meet the Jet Team and see a full size static L-39C jet bearing the Breitling Jet Team livery – with the distinction of “American Tour” on the tail in recognition of this historic tour. Guests also had a chance to meet with Kelly, while viewing the latest pieces from Breitling, including the limited edition Chronomat 44 Breitling Jet Team American Tour and enjoying cocktails and canapés.

With 6,000 flight hours in more than 50 different aircraft, 375 aircraft carrier landings, 39 combat missions and more than 50 days in space, Mark Kelly is one of our country’s most experienced pilots. Kelly, a Breitling Ambassador, is the recipient of the NASA Exceptional Service Medal and the Legion of Merit, and one of the subjects of the Twins Study, a national study that looks at the changes that occur during spaceflight versus remaining on earth along with his twin Scott Kelly, who is currently spending a year in space.

Widely recognized for their precision and seamless coordination displayed throughout high-speed aerobatic performances, the France-based team brings their unmatched flying to North America for the first time, mirroring the quality and precision of a Breitling timepiece. Their first performance at the Sun ‘n Fun International Fly-In & Expo occurred on Tuesday, April 21 for crowds of thousands. The Sun ‘n Fun International Fly-In & Expo marks the first stop on the Breitling Jet Team American Tour, with an additional 20 performances scheduled in 2015 across the United States and Canada. Guests also had a chance to view the Chronomat 44 Breitling Jet Team American Tour timepiece, which features the Breitling Jet Team logo on the dial, while the caseback features the Breitling Jet Team American Tour logo in vibrant color with the limited edition numbering. The limited edition piece will be available exclusively at Breitling Boutiques and select retailers as well as Air Shows that the Jet Team will perform at throughout North America on the Tour.
