Bringing Back the Love to the Friendly City Montego Bay to Celebrate a ‘Day of Love’ on February 16

MONTEGO BAY, February 1, 2018 / Residents, visitors, communities, corporate partners, school students and city stakeholders are all being invited to demonstrate their love for the city of Montego Bay by joining in a ‘Day of Love’ on February 16, 2018.  This rallying call is for Montego Bay’s citizens to wear red on that day, and it will mark the kickoff campaign for the I Love Mobay Foundation, a not for profit entity which has been formed to showcase, celebrate, engender and drive pride in the city of Montego Bay.

The project has been well received and to date has secured corporate commitments of J$5M in funding to execute its programs and projects.  Some of the partners include Sandals, Billy Craig Insurance, itelBPO, Spanish Court Hotel, Re/Max, OCEAN Style, Montego Bay Chamber of Commerce, BPIAJ, Sun Island, Mello, The Travel Foundation and Junior Achievement JA.

The ilovemobay campaign initiative was the brainchild of Douglas Gordon who came up with the initial concept some three years ago.  Gordon shares “Montego Bay is a great place to live, work and visit.  The city has its own unique personality and characteristics and while on one hand it has evolved and developed at an impressive rate, that growth has also brought its own set of social challenges which need attention.”

It is time now for the people of Montego Bay to have a clearer sense of community, pride and purpose and this campaign is needed now more than ever to bring renewal and hope. It is time to demonstrate our love for the City itself by each person making a conscious effort to create a lasting change.

Board Member Eleanor Crichton-Hussey, shared “I love MoBay, it is in my DNA.  A Day of Love for MoBay is a way to express our hopes and aspirations and to reclaim and proclaim our civic pride and sense of community. I love Mobay is a rallying call for all Montegonian family and friends to put our city first and surround it with a virtual hug of positivity and pride.”

We invite each and everyone who has an interest in being a part of Montego Bay’s success and future to sign on for the ilovemobay campaign and do your part to bring back the love.

Ilovemobay Executive Director, T’Shura Gibbs says of the initiative “The reality is that this project is timely and needed.  ilovemobay is a mission of love – it is an opportunity to match a need with a sense of positivity and enlightenment that is often lacking from the cultural fabric of Montego Bay. Ilovemobay is about helping to engage all Montego Bay residents as ambassadors for the community and being committed to playing a part in something that residents can take ownership in and be proud of. The time is now for the people of Montego Bay to have a clearer sense of pride, purpose and dare we say “love” for the City itself.”
