Explore the beaches on Key Biscayne with a packable boat

Most hard body kayaks have an enclosed top deck with ports for accessing storage. Innova Kayak mimics this design with its Swing series. Available for one or two passengers, the Swing has an integrated fabric deck for a dry paddle on lakes, rivers or ocean shorelines, room for storage and optional spray skirts.

The Swing series has a Class II river rating and two sizing choices. The Swing I measures 10-foot six inches long, 33 inches wide and weighs 24.7 pounds. It has a load capacity of 265 pounds and is designed to hold one passenger and gear. The two-passenger Swing II measures 13-foot long, 33 inches wide and weighs 31 pounds. It can carry up to 485 pounds.

The decks on the Swing kayaks are urethane-coated with zippered access for gear storage and cleaning ease. The decks shed water quickly and easily. Aluminum arches fore and aft of the cockpit openings support the deck and contribute to the stiffness of the Swing for paddling in rough water. These arches can be removed easily for compact folded storage, or left in the kayak for a slightly larger folded size. The Swing I kayak packs down to 27x15x9 inches and the Swing II to 27x16x10 inches.

While most inflatable boats are made using PVC, Innova Kayak uses Nitrilon Lite™ (NL) fabric in its boats for added durability. Nitrilon is a rip-stop polyester fabric with a coating of natural rubbers for great air retention. By manufacturing its boats with Nitrilon, Innova has also created an opportunity for them to be recycled at the end of their lifespan.

The Swing I has an MSRP of $599 and the Twist II retails for $799. This includes the kayak, tracking fin and repair kit. Additional recommended accessories are an air pump, spray skirt and paddle. To find a retailer or to purchase online, visit www.innovakayak.com.
