Trinidadian born vocalist / song writer r’kardo st.Von, together with his band ‘the rhapsodie collective’ will make his performance debut at the prestigious Blue Note Club this August 30th in New York City.
st.Von, a jazz fusion and big band vocalist who also writes his own material along with the standards/ covers he performs in his setlist, has been steadily making his mark felt, and powerful baritone vocal heard, on the NYC underground scene for some time now; and he highly appreciates this booking as a personal triumph for a Caribbean artist with no recorded release. He is the first vocalist of Trinidadian descent ever to be booked as a headliner at this historical venue.
His style has been compared to singers Michael Buble and Will Downing, but with a decidedly more eclectic slant, as he determinedly includes elements of his Caribbean heritage in his repertoire along with standards, interpretive covers and original material, including, but not limited to, vintage kaiso and classic reggae,
This show promises to be a real musical smorgasbord, not just for jazz aficionados, but for music lovers on the whole. st.Von promises a setlist that displays a wide variety of style and inspiration, coupled with his always dependably entertaining stage persona and solid vocals.
Guest performers include the magnificent jazz vocalist Melanie Charles, pop/ funk singer songwriter Cole Williams, ace Pannist Dane Gulston, R&B/ Gospel singer Miss Rayven and very special guest, the legendary Carol Addison.
‘Shine – the Blue Note Debut’ will be held on the night of Saturday August 30th, 12:30am, at the Blue Note, West 4th Street, Manhattan, NYC. Tickets are $10 booked online at www.bluenote.com or $15 at the door.
