The Caribbean is a haven, a set of perfect islands and getaway spots featuring stretches of golden sand, crystal clear waters and a climate unlike any other. Whilst some islands are great for those on a budget, usually the bigger islands, many are extraordinarily off the beaten track, serving those exclusive few with a fine range of services.
One stop has to be St. John, part of the US Virgin Islands, and in particular, Caneel Bay. The island itself is something of a hidden gem, worlds away from the renowned locations of Barbados and the Bahamas. This low-key luxury presents a pristine world, allowing visitors to get a feel of the Caribbean beach life, enjoying a sedating and reclusive holiday at the same time.
The British Virgin Islands also offer some splendid views, perfect for all ages, great for those who just want to get away and soak up the Caribbean sun. There are a selection of great resorts here, standouts including Biras Creek and Little Dix Bay, both found on Virgin Gorda. From private suites to exotic surroundings, both resorts feature glorious bays and tropical climates, simply perfect for those in need of seclusion. Virgin Gorda isn’t easy to reach and many need to charter a flight from one of the bigger destinations in the area, such as Puerto Rico.
The island of Eleuthera, just off the Bahamas, reached easily from Nassau, is a wonderfully stretched island, another beautiful entry on this list featuring stunning scenery and wilderness. You can walk for absolute miles across the golden sand beaches and not come across another soul.
Turks and Caicos, a name known to a precious few, is full of sleek and slender resorts. The Beaches Turks and Caicos Resort and Spa on Providenciales is a popular destination, not known by many, along with Parrot Cay. The latter lets visitors stay in villas by the beach, opening up the interaction with nature as well as offering private yoga classes and plenty of other useful amenities.
